About the Author :
Michael J. Parker is a well-known attorney specializing in Disability Law. Originally from Massachusetts, he graduated with honors from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law in 2004. Beginning his career immediately after passing the Bar Exam, Michael spent a decade at a law firm in Scranton, where he managed their disability practice.
In 2015, Michael joined a prominent law firm in Philadelphia, where he handled numerous Social Security Disability Hearings monthly, primarily in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. During the pandemic, he also managed video and telephonic claims nationwide. Michael is certified as a Social Security Disability Trial Advocate and has been recognized as a Super Lawyer/Rising Star in Disability Law by Philadelphia Magazine since 2010. He has authored numerous publications on Social Security Disability Claims and Long-Term Disability Claims.
In 2018, Michael established a Long-Term Disability Department for his former employer, securing over a million dollars annually in benefits for his clients. In 2023, he joined the Slocum Law Firm to lead their Social Security Disability and Long-Term Disability Practice.
Outside of his legal career, Michael is a passionate sports fan, especially of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He is actively involved in local government, having served the City of Scranton for nearly a decade. In his leisure time, Michael enjoys spending time with his family and friends, hiking with his dogs, reading (or listening to audiobooks), and attending mass at St. Ann’s Basilica Roman Catholic Church.
